Anyway can my friend who will shortly get to Spartan diesel and order the tunner there not get his warranty voided? So just say he gets the DPF delete and matts tunned superchips programmer could he just unplug it, put the DPF back on and bring it to the dealer? Will that tunner leave any trace? And I know this is kinda of a dumb question but once you remove the programmer that gets rid of regen will it come back to total stock form with regen and all when the programmer is removed? I heard different story's saying once you download crap on the 6.4 with a tunner it screws with the ECM.

Honestly thats not a perfectly answerable question. We dont know how truck will react after being put back to stock. I dont think it will be an issue but we cant say for sure till someone tries it....

as far as the tuner.....that depends on the tech. It wont leave any more trace than a 6.0....but a tech with the right knowledge can see if an SCT has been in any 6.0....most just dont know how to look at the right stuff.....

Well

To answer that question a bit better it goes like this. After removal of the dpf and cat the truck will actually run ok and not go into regen for a short amount of time. Once it gets to a certain point it will just go into constant regen then it will be a mess.

Yes I know that. But thats why I'm going to Spartan or KEM because they have a regen delete in their programmers.

he would be wise to wait it out. too many people go and do this stuff to the new 08's and then get worried, scared, and or p.o'd when the dealer mentions the possibility of voiding the warranty. in my opinion, if he is worried then dont do it. if he has the money to pay for repairs and dont care about his warranty then go ahead. from what i have read and seen, Ford isnt playing much with the 08's.

When I bought my '08, I asked the dealer owner if there were any issues about installing a tuner on my new truck. He said "If you have any warranty work done on any part of the drivetrain, Ford is making all dealers run a report from the truck (computer). If there is a trace from a tuner and it is determined that the tuner was the cause of the broken part, then yes it will void the warranty for that specific part. Not the entire warranty for the whole truck". He also said that there are certain tuners that can't be detected by the report. He said the tech's do not recommend putting a tuner on a new motor for at least 4-5k miles. I talked to Spartan yesterday and he said his tunes are not detectable.
