Anybody using the plantdrive setup?

If so, any feedback?

Thanks

My Plant Drive kit was installed in May 2006. It works great. What specifically do you want to know?

That is the system that I am considering most seriously. I just haven't heard from anybody who has it specifically on a Ford Diesel. The owner of the company said he has sold a fair amount for Ford Trucks. Do you have the Vormax or the Vegmax setup?
Thanks for your answer

Plantdrive is second on my list of good vegi kits.
Vegistroke is far, far superior in quality and customer service both. Frybrid is quality but good luck getting your kit in a timely manner after paying for it and then also no follow up service for help when you have a question.
Again, Plantdrive is ok for a less expensive kit.
Check out Vegistroke before you decide.

I might add, Ask Plantdrive what there purge time is on a PSD...then ask Jason at Vegistroke the same question.
I believe plantdrive still uses the pollak valves also (did i spell that right?)...i could be wrong about that however these valves will fail and when they do your truck will be sitting there with cold vegi oil in the lines and will not start. Worse than gelled diesel fuel.

Clay I don't argue that the Vegistroke kit is tops. All I hear is praise from those who have that system and all they wanted was the best money could buy but to some the price of a kit is a major consideration as it was for me. The cost of a Plant Drive system is much less the Vegistroke and installation really was not that hard...only time consuming. Yes it uses a Pollak valve but I have not had a problem in over 20K miles of vegoil use. It's rated to 160*F and most of my heat is added after it. Don't run my system in sub-freezing temps much since I live near the coast but have seen 19*F w/o a problem. The oil gets plenty hot. I see 160-190*F depending on ambient temps. Plant Drive does offer 3-way solinoids as an upgrade. Purge times are about 2-3 miles since I installed Plant Drive's aluminum billet block in my fuel filter housing to displace 98% of the fuel bowl volume. I now have separate Racor filters for each tank. And nctacoma, I do have the Vormax which IMO is a poorer design than the VegMax ONLY because heat rises. I since have added a 12v 70watt heater pad to the Vormax filter for winter use since my oil unfortunately has animal fats that need to be heated hotter to flow freely through a filter under WOT...and yes the Vormax is coolant heated.

How long is the switchover time on the the plantdrive system, in terms of miles driven on regular fuel before you can move to wvo?
Do you have the vegmax or the vormax setup?

Realize that the 7.3L takes a long time to reach full heat regardless of which system you use. What I think you meant was how long is the purge from WVO to #2. I'll say 3 miles but it may be less. I have the Vormax.

The switchover time would be based on how long it takes to get the coolant hot. The coolant is where the veg system gets its heat. And these PSD heat up slow depending on engine load. If your just idling, it will take a long time to heat up, if your toolin down the highway at 65, it will take 3-5 miles depending on ambient temps. This morning it was 29* and my 6.0 reached full operating temp in 5 miles.

WOW Clay! Five miles is a really fast warm up. If I start stone cold (no block heater) at 30*F it takes me at least ten miles to fully warm up.

Is that 10 miles on the highway or stop and go traffic like in town?
My 5 miles is 2 miles of county road (at which point my coolant will reach about 120*) and then 3 more miles on the highway to get it on up to 180*
