Fuel Pump Cuts Out?

I just changed out my fuel pump and finally got my truck to start but it wont stay running. It seems like the fuel pump keeps cutting out... I've read about pulling the fuel heater harness, and I think I have but it still acts up. After its sits for a few minutes the pump starts to work again and then fires up only to cut out again. Any thoughts? Oh and the "wait to start light" doesnt come on when the fuel pump doesnt work...

Does your truck run now? If you have no wait to start light check the #22 fuse in your engine bay fuse box. That fuel heater wire generally shorts out and it will blow the #22 30 amp fuse. In addition this fuse controls the PCM also.

i second this....either your PCM is going bad....or something is shorting it out. That is the ONLY thing ive ever seen cause the wait to start light not to work (besides a burned out light bulb...lol). Start by unplugging the fuel heater.... you also could start pulling some fuses when its acting up to see if something is shorting the PCM. The most common thing to short a PCM besides the fuel heater is the shift solenoids inside the tranny but there are many thing is could be....

The PCM energizes the fuel pump relay....thats why both the wait to start light and the fuel pump are affected....

Thanks for your help with the situation. It turns out that my chip (bully dog 6 pos) was causing the pump to shut off. I took it off and its running fine now. Now I am going to look into problems with the chip... hopefully its a cleanliness issue and not a fried chip : )

Need to change your sig then. I was going to suggest you check your chip too but i didn't think you had it yet. Glad ya got it figured out. :thumb:
