Well I took my truck to the dealer yesterday because I was loosing coolant it was my overflow they put a new one and I also had them reflash the pcm. Got up today started it and it started like it was wormed up already no more clunking and sputtering it was great runs smoother I think too I'm one happy guy today. Just thought I'd share that
The dealer did the same for me but I still loose coolant. I'm pretty sure that I have heads going bad and the dealer is just biding time before having to do the heads.
Check to see if you can see any coolant on your starter coming off the back passenger side of the engine. It'll only be a very little. I was losing coolant spuratically, only under certain circumstances and the degas bottle would run dry within two weeks. It took the dealer 3 days to find the leak but it was a fitting/hose on the EGR cooler. Good luck!
yea i had the same problems.. they replaced my EGR cooler and it still losing just as much coolant as it did.. I just dont feal like giving them my truck for another week right now.
Well ill keep a eye on it. I talk to the tech about putting head studs in he was really cool. So I'm going to do it sometime this summer . Ohh yeah all hell will break lose then. I can smell big power in the air
I'm not sure the recept didn't really give a price just for the re flash. They inspected the coolent leak and my head gaskets and a couple of other things. Put on a new coolent over flow bottle and new coolent and re flashed the system everything because I was out of warranty was 289.00 so I think just a re flash shouldn't be that much by itself.
says yer out of warranty? is it because of high mileage? i have been told on here that a 03 still has some of the 5 yr 100,000 mile warranty..can anyone confirm this?
I had mine done, one dealer wanted 150 to flash it and the other wanted 65. They both said they had to charge an hour to do it. So i took it to the dealer charging 65 an hour.
