I would just like to say...

That I love my truck. (If you want to know why, only read the bold)

I hauled a tandem axle (roughly 3,ooolb) car trailer from Elkton to Pasadena (70 miles one way) yesterday (Friday night down and back). As soon as my friend and I pulled out onto I-95 SB around 4pm we hit about a miles worth of roughed up, about to be resurfaced pavement and it was really bouncy. I commented "boy the road is rough." Pulled up onto the freshly paved road and we still had the "bounce" and well I figured something was wrong! Quick check of the rearview mirror and I see we had a blow out on the trailer! No spare, but not a big deal, just pulled the tire/rim and kept going since the axle was about 6 or 8 inches off the ground still.

Long story short after getting my new (to me) jeep loaded on the trailer the axle was sitting on the ground! Called about 30 places (at 8pm) to see if anybody was still open and finally found one 24 hour tire place in Rosedale, 30 minutes away. Loaded up the tire, drove up there, got a new one put on the rim, went back to the jeep. Since the axle was on the ground I couldn't get the jack under it so I was kinda stuck! I remembered the boards I had put in the back of my truck and I used those stacked up to allow me to put the jack on and jack the trailer up from the frame. Then used a wheel stop under the axle to hold it up while re positioning the jack under the axle! Wow... I'm feeling like a genius at this point haha. FInally get the tire on, and realized we didn't get the same size! Tires were 205 75 15 and I got a 215 60 15. O well, took a wrench and pealed the fender back about an inch and all was well! Did I mention this entire story took place during a previously known as "hurricane Ernesto" haha... my friend and I were SOOOo soaked. So here was the thing, other then a 2 horse trailer and a horse or 2 my truck hadn't seen much weight. I'm guessing here, but I assume the jeep was roughly 4,000 lbs with everything in it and + a little more for the gear and what not I had on hand. So roughly my truck probably near 7800, and 7,000lbs of trailer and jeep. A total of about 15,000 lbs and I ran about 70-75 mph the whole way home around midnight, in Ernesto storms, in overdrive. There was only one hill that in overdrive I couldn't hold 70 (I didn't mash the pedal either, only about 75% down). Drove fine, rode great and hauled beepbeepbeep without makin 2 trips! :D I later took the jeep offroad and had a blast... it runs great, both stick and t/case work great and has one HECK of a low gear! :D
