Hey guys Im lookin at getting a 6.7 2012 model Im wanting to know if you love them and are they having very many problems with this motor b4 i part with my 7.3 i dont want to make a mistake thanks every1 look 4ward to hearing good news..:icon_ford:
No regrets. 2012 almost 1yr old with 13K miles. Great vehicle. No issues. Powerful, efficient, comfortable, capable.
My Dad has 2 7.3s (F450s) and really enjoys my truck. Search these forums, look at the Ram and Cummins forum. Do your homework. Some people get a dud. Happens with every car manufacturer, but not the norm.
Have you driven one yet? Prepare to part ways with your money LOL!
i have a 2012 f-350 6.7 fx4 i love the truck and love the motor got it in september have 7500 miles on it no issues. I do read the forums and take care of it, change oil at 3400 first time and got fuel filters done at 6000, i also drain the water every 600-700 miles. When i went in to get the fuel filters changed the ford mechanic said congrats first truck he did with no water in fuel and i said " on powerstroke site learned how to drain it and do it all the time" so i believe that does help.
Mine gets here tomorrow. It will take me a week to get it repaired and can't wait!!! I miss my 08 though, it was an awesome truck, so I am not sure how much better this one will be.
Own a 97 F350 for 180,000 miles and swore I'd never get rid of it and loved the 7.3 with 5spd manual. Just for $hits & giggles drove a 2012 F350 in July and couldn't get over how nice the ride was plus all that power and bought my 12 in September, just made my first oil change at 4,000 miles.
I spent a year lurking on the 6.7 forums and didn't get too hung up on the job 1 2011 issues. IM glad I made the decision just need to buy good fuel, use additives, and drain the fuel filter separator once a month as per the manual.
Love my truck, only problem I had is some bad selnoids in the tranny at 1200 miles. Other than that thr truck has been awsome. I now have 8200 miles tuned and deleted for 3200 miles with no problems. Great truck
I've had mine little over a year since then I've deleted and programmed it and put wheels and tires on it but stock wise I love it best truck I've had and no problems with it at all great truck
Seems like the 3.31 guys get amazing MPG on the freeway. But stop and go city driving not as well.
I get about 16 city (heavy right foot), and 19-20 freeway. 3.55 gears on mine. I did see 21 or 22 Mpg pulling 4000 pounds on the freeway, but i was doing under 55 the whole time.
Alot of guys on here are dropping close to 10 MPG while pulling under 10K Pounds! But they all seem to be chugging along at 70MPH or more.
Bought my 2012 F-350 Dec 12, 2012 and only have a touch over 5000 miles on it so far. I love this truck better than my '06 6.0L so far. I'm averaging 17mpg with city and hwy use. On longer hwy trips, I can avg 20mpg at 70mph.
Since new and the first 4,000 miles I'm seeing 17.4 average town & highway, which I can live with. However, I expect the average over the next 5,000 miles to drop because I'll be towing my 5th Wheel and Boat more.
The guys with the 3.31 gearing are probably averaging better?
Are you averaging the 17.4 without things like the delete, tuning, etc? I've never averaged better than 13.4(regular/highway driving or hauling our 5th) in my '08 350. I also don't have any mods such as the delete, etc.
I've been looking at the '12's and '13's and would really like to upgrade.
I have 3.31 and around my house at 60 mph I get 20-22. On the interstate @ 75 I get 18-20 as long as the wind is calm. Towing all depends on the weight and speed. Towing on interstate @ 70 I get 10-12 around the house @ 60 its 14-16.
Mine is a dually with 3.73s. Mixed driving I average right around 16 but I did manage 19 and some change on a long interstate drive empty. Pretty impressed for a CC long bed dually. I have a hard time with the skinny pedal too.
Love the 6.7! The only thing I've noticed is that it doesn't shift as smooth as my 2006, but my 2006 can't lay rubber when nailed at 30 MPH like the 6.7 can.
My hand calculated (every tank logged and graphed) average is 15.8 mpg. Most of my driving is a 7.5 mile commute, and then around town for lunch, and back home. It's better than my Tundra was with these trips.
Best full tank of fuel 630 miles on 33.1 gallons. 19.03 mpg That was driving from PA to Myrtle Beach SC. So, hills to start and then flatlands in NC/SC. Other tank fulls around it were in the 18-19mpg range.
Worst tank has been 13.9 that had 50% towing a 4000-9000# trailer (depended on what was in it). I didn't think that was too bad.
You do have to be careful with the truck. Wet roads = traction control. Hit the skinny at 30mph and you've got TC on. Pretty awesome. Good think I didn't have this thing when I was 16-18 yrs old LOL! Now, I gotta buy the Michelins....little pricey to turn into smoke!
Just picked up my 2012 F 250 this Tuesday. My dealer 'claims' to have lost $3000 dollars in the deal so they could move a 2012, but I find the hype hard to believe sometimes. Regardless, I feel that I got an excellent deal on the truck compared to sticker.
So far, the computer claims anywhere between 17.5-19 mpg mixed 50/50 highway and city driving. I went with the 3.31 gears, as I felt that nothing I will be towing with this truck will reach the potential of that setup. Most of my driving will be commuting with light amounts of weight in the bed, with an occasional 28 ft camper or smaller flat bed.
I'll recalculate by hand as soon as I fuel up..I don't see why the computer would be very far off as it's running simple calculations with exact numbers.
I have a 2013 platinum 6.7 and I love it! I bought it with 130k miles on it, it was already deleted, with a 5” exhaust from the engine to the tail. It have now 178k miles on it with not even one issue, no check engine light or anything, it’s a very good truck All I Did was to installed a after market cold air intake And the truck it’s amazing.
