SO I JUST DID THE DIY TYMAR INTAKE ON MY TRUCK AND AS I TOOK THE TUBE TO SEE IF IT WAS TRUE ABOUT THE K&N FILTER. IF IT REALLY PASS DIRT, AND I FOUND SOME ON THE TUBING FROM THE TURBO TO THE AIR COOLER. THAT SUCKS!:badidea: DANG I HOPE IT WASNT TOO LATE!I MADE SURE TO CLEAN THE TUBING. DONT DO THE K&N FILTERointlaugh: BESIDES WHO DOESNT WANT TO HEAR THERE TURBO SREAM!:burnout
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully there's no serious dusting. I ran a K&N filter for a long time, but I was lucky. I finally changed it out for an Amsoil air induction replacement filter, and I saw no signs of dusting on the turbo wheel then. Good luck.
You should be fine. I ran one for about 1.5 years and then I found holes in it. The holes were about the size of a 25cent piece. I contacted K&N they did warranty it under there 1,000,000 mile warranty overnighted a new one to me. Which I used for a short time till I got my filter from napa. Now I am looking at getting a dry reusable filter from aem or another similar company.
If you want the best filtration go with the Ford AIS intake, nothing will filter better. My UOA's prove it works.
Friends don't let friends install K&N's.
is that just the k&N Drop in or is it happening with the replacement systems as well? and if it is do you think i could still use the K&N cold air intake with a different filter?
If you do that all that happens is over time that prefilter shreds up. I had a K&N Cold Air intake kit with prefilter sock on it. I had holes the size of quarters in my filter. Below is a picture of the filter at question. This was on my truck. The filter looks grey because I just cleaned it and placed it back on the truck for the photos required by K&N to get my new filter.
Notice all those black marks on the filter. Well those are the holes that were the size of a dime to a quarter. The sizes of the holes varied.
man I hate to hear that I hope you have good luck with it!!!
