I had been using citgo diesel. I had good luck with the fuel. Recently the citgo stations switched to marathon. Immediately after fueling with marathon diesel I lost power and mpg. I filled up there 3 times since and still the fuel sucks. I talked to there fuel hauler today and he said his diesel isn't running well on their fuel. He said marathon is playing around with the fuel, something about the % of sulfur in the diesel. Anyone else with similar problems...

Reducing the sulfur in fuel is federally mandated, so Marathon has to change the formulation. To be honest, the symptoms you describe sound more like the station switched from #2 fuel to #1 for the winter. #1 has a lower energy content per gallon and usually results in lower power & mpg.

Fuel

I would like to see tests on fuel quality. I know when the fuel prices started going up all my rigs lost power and milage. My Mustang GT was pinging idled rough. If the computer perameters can't adjust to the fuel, there is something seriously wrong!! I'm shure with that being the case our diesel quality went down the drain. How are we supposed to meet emissions and fuel mileage standards while trying to burn CRAP!! Sorry guys, I have an issue with tree huggers. I can't believe Bill Ford gave into them.

I am semi informed , I have been driving a gas truck for 9 yrs. The terminals do not play with diesel fuel. they do play with rvp of gas levels in the spring and fall. The diesel fuel problems are just consquence to another problem, either at the gas station or with your fuel filters. diesel is lighter than water, so water will settle to the bottom. they could have been low on fuel and you sucked up some of the last fuel in the tank, which trapped water in your fuel filter. Or you had water in the filters and its coincidence. however the ceatane levels of fuel in the U.S. are significantly lower than those of other countries that burn diesel ( i.e. tree huggers.) Higher ceatane levels result in better running diesels, Try powerservice diesel kleen. make sure that you get the one with the ceatine increaser. probably T.M.I .but just trying to help

I use Citgo fuel almost exclusively, and my fuel economy has steadily increased since I bought the truck new. There is probably a point about

a. switch to winter #1 diesel
b. a possibility of water in your filter

Try the Diesel Kleen and change your filters out, it's a good idea to do so at the start of the winter season, anyway just in case you have some gunk in there that could freeze up and leave you stranded.
