pretty new to diesel and new to the forum so be gentle!:thumb: i have done a lot of work with my gasser SUV (isuzu rodeo) so i know a bit about performance work and ive done some research on diesel performance. i inherited my fathers 02 250 and looking to get a little more out of of her. i plan on doing a bit of basic work, exhaust, air flow and maybe a bit of turbo work sooner or later. its already got a K&N on it so i dont gotta worry about that. anyways to the point here. what are some opinions on these two chips? my buddy's cousin has a banks 6 gun in his rig but ive never talked to him about it personally but from what i hear from my friend is that its pretty slick. heard a lot of good things about the beans diesel 6 position chip and i really like that you get to choose what you get and ive heard a lot of good things about them. so what do yall think of them or what are you running?

I prefer the ts style chip. I run php tunes but also have beans tunes. Tony wildman or gearhead have great tunes as well.
Many also like the dp tuner chips. The ts style and dp are the most popular and are the best opions for our trucks.

My top picks would be PHP, Beans, Tony Wildman. Where are you located?
You will want at least an egt guage before you add a chip. I would ditch the k/n filter as they are not good for our trucks.

im at school in Laramie Wyoming right now and thats where the truck will spend most of its time. when end up getting a chip i plan to save up the extra dollars and get either an edge or bully dog monitor.
why is the K&N no good? what are some other good options for em?

If you want something like the edge monitor, maybe you should look at DP,s new unit. It allows for your tunes, guages, and more. Check it out, looks like a nice unit. DP Infinity

many say that the k/n filter is known for letting too much mine dust through which eventually kills the turbo and motor. Living in Wyoming, you may be around very dusty environments.

You can just pull the k/n filter but leave everything else. You want a donaldson B085011 filter, its also known as the diy intake, tymar 6637, etc. best bang for the buck. Filter is around $25-30 and works great. The donaldson is the best filter to use though from my research.

Canned tunes are not as bad as you would imagine, at least on a ts chip. Tunes from DP, php, beans, etc are always better because they are tuned specifically for our trucks and they all have great experience with our needs.

However I would not run a typical programmer or edge unit. With the dp infinity you still get the dp tunes, they are not canned tunes, but you also get guages, scan toole, etc. well worth the money if you can afford it.

If you buy a ts chip or even a dp f-5 or 6 and guages, you will be in around $700. Its just an option to think about.

Definitely take your time and ask any questions you may have before buying, it will save you in the end. do plenty of research. There are so many different opinions on tunes/chips, etc

I don't know if they still offer it but you may also want to look at the php gryphon, it's an edge (can't remember if it's cts or cs) with php tunes on it.
