Just went to the Dodge Cummins Forum to read up on the 6.7 problems. Looks like they may have more DPF problems than we do! Theirs are clogging up bad, it seems, with a whole lot of problems! They don't seem to be having a whole lot of luck doing DPF deletes with them. One guy took his back to the dealer to buy his Ford back, he did'nt do it of course, I just thought it was funny. It makes me feel better to know the new emissions has screwed up everybody else too. I may be wrong but I don't hear of too many DPF's malfunctioning on the later stock '08's. My DPF seems to work exactly like it was made to, but robs power and milage in the process!! I just feel better knowing we are not alone with the DPF dislike! There are a lot of guys calling their 6.7's a whole lot of #%@*!$ words on that site, kinda funny! Check it out.
The DPF is just a big joke right now. You use more fuel to burn cleaner. How the F*** does that add up.
Must be that new math that Al Gore invented, you know the day after he invented the internet.
The only thing that this new emmissions standard is going to accomplish, is to burn up all the diesel faster, thus resulting in less emmissions on the future.
I agree!!!! My old '94 7.3 Factory Turbo uses 1/2 the diesel my '08 does to pull the same loads and it really hardly smokes at all with vertually the same performance! My '89 is another story, it probably cancels out about 2,000 Toyota Prias cars by it self (LOL)!!!!
I have a driver with a 07 Dodge and it goes into the shop at least once a month with an error message for the regen cycle being stuck on, showing on the message center. And his truck is seeing 8.2 MPG as well .
i drive a new 6.7 f750 that is 19,000 lbs and it gets 5 mpg and our other trucks with the cats get almost 10
and the 6.7 always going into regen about twice a day
There's more to this global warming bs than meets the eye. Toyota put the Prius plant in Canada because the plant produces more polution than US laws allow. It is said that to produce one car, the polution amout released into the air is more than 5 Expeditions will produce over 100,000 miles each.
The funny thing is that there are tree huggin, sandal wearing hippies buying them by the truck load to save mother earth.:hehe:
I am hard core Blue Ford Fan but I sell parts at a Dodge dealer( Job Security) :haha:. We sell a ton of those things. The cab and chassis unit is both the cat and the filter in one, $2000.00 . Few hotshotters like them. More than one I spoke to went far distances to buy the last 5.9's they could find. I love my 7.3 .
The Dodge boys definitely have way more problems then the Fords!! I'm on a pipeline job and there are about 10-15 company trucks there. All Dodge 6.7 pickups and a few 1 ton dually's. ALL the trucks have the MIL light on, 3 have gone back to the dealer with plugged DPF's, one had to be replaced. 3 trucks have had front axle failures and one transfer case exploded!!!:hehe:
A teamster got a speeding ticket (62 in a 35mph zone) while trying to get his DPF unplugged:hehe:
Everytime I get in a truck for a ride in, I check the computer for fuel mileage. most are between 9-11mpg. To thier defense for true accuracy, they are not reset all the time, but it's not reading in the high teens or 20's either. They have had alot of issues with starting (wont do anything, like someone cut the starter wire, but all electronics in the cab work) & the new 6sp trans is very tempermental and sometimes wont go into any gear.. Pure junk in my opinion!!
I had a fishing hand on my location recently who left his new ( less than 1000 miles ) 08' Chevy Duramax idling for a few hours and when he got back in to run to the office his truck would not get over 35 mph. Well he dropped it off at the dealership and they just told him that it was the worst case they had seen so far. It had burnt injectors and loads of other problems all caused by the DPF plugging. The tech said that there were several other trucks waiting to be repaired all due to the same problem.
This isnt the only problems Dodge is having, my buddy just dropped his one ton off at the Dealership for its second set of ball joints. They told him his tires were too big (315's) until I took them a printed page from the Dodge forum of others having the same problem.
You know I live in the same town as another guy who owns a new dodge, and he is having major problems. The nearest dealership is 200 miles away over a gravel dirt road and he has had it towed their 3 times aready. Not sure if it was the DPF every time but still, living where we do, it is not possible to own a vehicle with that many problems.
i keep hearing "at least we arent the only ones having problems with the DPF"...and the title is "cummins dpf problems too"....
I guess i dont get it...ford ISNT HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE DPF....they are getting worse fuel economy...but between the fuel and the DPF...thats just gonna be the nature of the beast....we arent having problems with the ford DPF's....
Ohh....and chevy is having problems with thier DPF system's as well now.... Ford is the only one not using an external injector in the DPF and they are the only ones not having consistant problems....:thumb:
Sorry about the title I used, should have worded it diff.. My DPF works like it is supposed to, and I have only heard of a few guys having problems with them, I guess I should have named it "Cummins having trouble with DPF". Have'nt there been a few that got cracks inside the DPF that allowed them to smoke? I have a nieghbor with one bone stock, but it smokes like heck when he gets on it, does his have a crack that lets the smoke get by? If that happens and it is not replaced will the truck run worse or better? Will it never go into Reg. or will it stay in Reg.? His runs circles around mine!! It has been smoking since May, I don't think he has had any issue though. Just curious!
The EPA will save the planet (meaning us, the planet can take care of itself) in the long run.
The extra fuel needing to be produced and the amount of greenhouse gasses resulting from "cleaner emission vehicles" will warm the planet and cause the ice on the planet to melt. Well, it would happen anyway because unless we are in an ice age the normal conditions of the planet are without ice. However if it happens soon enough maybe we won't run out of water.
:icon_ford:I am on my second DPF on my 08 350. The regen process seems stuck in regen then the light (yellow) check engine comes on and it shuts down the regen. I sat for about 10 minutes while in regen waiting for it to stop. then shut down the truck. last time I shut it down in regen and it had a loud pop and 3 days later the light came on. It was at the dealer with the mechanic in it when it popped! he had never heard that before.
A buddy of mine has a mopar and he is having to go back every few weeks to reset the code.:icon_ford:
