OK, 173k on my tranny and its beginning to slip 1-2 upshift , hard 2-3 upshift and fluid is burnt smelling...I tow 11 to 12 K pounds ...

Is it time to rebuild what I have and use Heavy Duty components/Converter,etc or Find one Built already with HD parts and slide it in...:woot:

What KEY HD components should I look for brand names etc...:ford:

My thinking is Converter upgrade,More fluid cooling,Valve body mods..

PCM has BD Power chip unknown HP probly 50-60hp old chip-

Ive located a builder selling rebuilt units with Billet converter, steel internals, etc for my application for 1500 bux and my core....deal?:eek:hnoes:

Find out what he is rating the strength at hp wise. My brother had his rebuilt basically same mods for $2000. How much more power are you wanting to add to it? This could answeryour question for you. What type of warranty?

Dang rite, DEAL:woot: That is cheep for a stock unit! If it's what he says it's an all out steel. It took me around $600 for parts, and the converter was a bit over a grand before all the work it took to rebuild the thing. He must be getting a great deal on recon converters or something to make that pay. If he will stand behind his work you better jump all over that deal.:thumb:

My tranny went through the exact same problems then it finally went. I built up with the banks billet torque converter, a valve body and a shift kit for $1750. I don't have any problems anymore . It runs good and shifts hard. If it ever goes again I am going with a John Woods.. I hear good things from everyone.. Good luck. -TJ
