ok..after a lot of trials and tribulations...i finally found the squeaking that has been driving me mad...the rear carrier...that is between the transmission and the rear end is the problem...i didnt see it exactly...i just had someone put it on a lift and run it...and they sprayed some stuff on there and it stopped...some kind of lubricant...but now i have the dilemma of fixing the issue...any help would be great...
My little bro's truck has the same annoying squeak! I rode with him the other day and it drove me nuts!!!!! Eeek, eeerk, eeeek, eeerrrrk every rotation of the driveshaft.
if i remember right the bearings are about $180.....
There are two types of driveshafts though....the kind that the flange bolts to the end of the first section of the driveshaft are easy to replace...the ones that you have to seperate the slip yoke are a pain in the butt. That all depends on wheelbase and i dont know that info off of the top of my head.
The easiest way to tell will be this....look just behind the center support bearing between it and the U joint.... If there are straps with 8MM bolts holding the U joint to the front portion...its the easy kind to change....if there isnt, and there is just a slip yoke...its the pain in the butt kind...
i cant grease it or anything? cause the guy looking sprayed some lubricant on it...and it stopped for a few days...he just didnt spray much and it came back...
I just fix mine and yes its the squeeky noise coming from under truck. My truck is shortbed Crew cab 2wd and the bearing is pressed on the driveshaft yoke. REMEMBER to mark all the drive shaft all the way down. The drive shafts are all balance and if you do not mark it you will have a bad vibration. The center suport bearing cost me $120 and lunch from one of the shops I deliver too. Used impact on bolt and impact and puller on the yoke to remove the bearing.
Mark the U joints also so they all go back the same way you took them off.
Good luck.
Okie dokie...i screwed the pooch on this one guys...took it to a mom and pop shop...and they messed me up...they replaced the bearing...and yeah...you called it...i gotta vibration...its not bad...just a little bit around 25mph...and about 55mph...just enough to annoy...anyone know an easy solution??
I would check the u-joints if those were not replaced especially the rear. Also, they may have put the driveshafts in the wrong way (out of alignment). The driveshafts are balanced from the factory. When I took mine apart and found it was the rear u-joint, I put the rear driveshaft in at 180 degrees out. I had a slight vibration like you do and so I unbolted the center u-joint, put the truck in neutral, and turned the front shaft 180 degrees. Now it is back to normal.:icon_ford:
