I bought an f250 06. well i love the truck and in 4 days have hauled more things then i would think i would in a year so im using it but now i have a problem.
when i turn off the truck its stays on cooling for a little longer then i think its normal.
may be a stupid question till tonight. my husband drove it to the grocery store and its 3 blocks people!! so when he pulls in and turns it off the truck turned off. then back home and same turned off.
so i try to turn it back on and off and it stays on!!!! ok what am i doing wrong.
he turns the key same as i do aside from how forceful he turns it off and i turn it off gently.
does this matter?
im not turning the key too far back to power the car again i checked. he was as confused as i was. to make us look more like monkeys i had my father in law come over to see me do it and he was also confused so what is it? can the ignition switch be bad?
for those who think im stupid for asking. well my daddy says there are no stupid questions only stupid people who where too embarassed to ask. plus a stupid question cost noting but a stupid mistake for not asking can be very costly.
yes thank you i bought it used but at a certified dealer and with the OASIS print out of no warranty repairs only maintanance check ups.
it has the aux panel and i thought o maybe the aux could be on a timer for powering an outlet like the 30 amp has a plug on the rear cab for power tools but no , no such luck the same problem occurs weather i have the aux's on or off .
Im taking my sorry behind to the dealership tomorrow and asking them my stupid question in person.
is it so elementary that i cant find the answer or is it a real problem thats such a mistery i cant find the answer... not sure
and yes i turn the ignition off take key out and car is on for 2-5 minutes
regardless of how little i drive it. this morning i moved it up the driveway to let my husband out and it stayed on for nearly 4 minutes.
i moved it 30 feet!!! in 30 seconds how can this be
jon one last question on this.
i have a TBC FAULT coming up when i turn it off and i was told its a trailer detach relay thats bad ( computer component not techie on that) and that needs to be replaced could this be causing it to stay on thinking its towing therefor needing a longer cooling period?
I have seen several of our customers trucks with the tbc fault. It comes up a lot during extended cranking after an open oil system. I dont think its related to your issue. Our electrical guy takes care of the tbc issues so I cant really answer it totaly.
Jon problem was solved it is a turbo timer put on after market they had no record of it. the TBC fault comes on went he timer is turned on but the brake lights connection worked now and it was not the TBC it was the sensor needed replacing. they fixed that and they did a diagnostic and checked all grounds seems that the TBC fault comes up only when using the timer and since its not their product they cant fix it.
so now i need to find a shop that does mods near by.
thank you so much for heading me in the right direction. as soon as i told the mech what i had read here he was "AHHH ok lets check for that and they opened up the panels and found it!!" saved us allot of repair time lol. so i was not so stupid after all but i did those guys at the dealer a story to tell for the day. i drove in with my heels on lol figure they gonna talk about me might as well be a good conversation .
lots of people want a TT and your taking yours off?
Set it to run for a shorter time maybe but its nice to have that on for cooling the turbo before you shut it off rather than you having to sit there and wait till its cool.
