thaey all have the same kind of connector. the diffrence is the metal in the contacts. i think the early one's had tin type metal on the contacts and the older had a gold type contact. if you use one in the other the diffrence in the two metals can cause a reaction and the contacts can corrode. but in an emergency either one will work.
I thought the metal was different. The reason I would like to change to the newer style is to be able to use the newer sensor without worring about the difference in metals plus there are no old styles listed on ebay only new styles that are priced right.
I don't see why you couldn't splice a "new style" in if ya did it right (i.e. solder and heat shrink rather than crimp) and you reference a wiring schematic to make sure it was hooked up right.
