I was driving in town, everything was fine. Stopped at a light and when I took off, about 2nd gear it started missing and loss of power. Checked oil and added 1 1/2 quarts and it still acted up. Next morning it ran rough, but after a stop at 7-11 it started and ran fine. Next day it ran bad and up to now has not improved. I have changed the filter, cps sensor and unhooked batts. for about 30 mins. and added Lucas add. to fuel tank. What next.... wires inside valve cover or scan?
Thanks, I drained filter empty and started truck again, then opened drain again and fuel was clear and already full in filter housing so I wouldn't think it was a fuel restriction issue, would it?
I am wondering if it isn't something in your fuel...
I had a situation where dirty fuel was run through my engine. The truck surged and acted like it was having a seizure. Ended up completely draining the fuel system and replacing the fuel filter numerous times until the engine was back and running smoothly.
When I changed the filter, I looked in the bottom of fuel housing and there was what looked like Lucas gear oil additive (sticky and like honey) so I cleaned what I could and installed the new filter. Don't know what it was, but it was dark red! Also, where the heck do I find the HPOP and what does it look like? I just bought this truck on my birthday 9-10-07 and still trying to locate things under the hood! Truck has 184,000 on it and superclean, but didn't know it was so temperamentallllllll!
Maybe........ Got any grass carp I can put in the tank to eat that algae? LOL. I'm not really looking forward to pulling the valve covers to check wiring harness, but that may be next, but would like to locate the HPOP and check oil level!
If there was something sticky in the fuel housing there's a chance that stuff has made it to your injectors which would also make for a poor running engine. Whatever that stuff was, I bet it is throughout your fuel system. I'd find a good diesel injector cleaner and see what happens.
Don't know if my last post got through, but I haven;t had it scanned yet, but maybe should b-4 pulling valve covers?
