I searched the other threads for answers but just made me more confused. Recently installed an AFE Stage 2 in my 99.5, now seem to have turbo surge when it shifts under load or at certain rpm's under load. Searching around I see a lot of mentions of a wicked wheel and ATS housing. My question is can you do just the wheel upgrade with the stock housing or the new housing with the stock wheel or do you have to do both. Truck has plenty of power so not really looking for power boost just a solution for the strange new noises it makes.
Truck is also running a 4" turbo back, and superchips tuner.
Just wondering if anyone else has anything to add. Currently leaning towards the ATS (seems less controversial than the WW) but looking for more input before I lay out the $400 for it. Thanks.
I like mine:thumb:I would say go for it as it will cure the surge and you will get more turbo whistle. As long as you don't plan on going to larger injectors get it, otherwise look into a new aftermarket turbo.
Just start saving, and upgrade to a new aftermarket turbo... and then upgrade your tuning as well.
