I have a '99 F350- recently had cam sensor replaced- everytime it mists or rains the service engine light comes on and it will die when coming up to a light, but will restart OK- any ideas ?
two things you need to watch for on a 99 model when have problem only when it rains , one is the windshile would leak on that model and get the pcm wet , and two , see if water is getting behing the fender well where the idm is located and getting the connec tion wet there , would not be a bad idea to check codes , but alot of times if engine shuts off for other reasons it can still show a cam sensor code , so it doesnt always mean cam sensor is bad
It never happened until after the cam sensor or crank sensor was replaced-it also will do it when there is a slight mist-you'll be running along and 'she' will 'stumble'(that's the best way I can describe it) and then the service engine light will come. That's when she'll start to die when slowing down coming to a light. Strange !
