Anyone have advice on installing a transmission temp gauge on a 2000 Excursion PSD -- I am planning on also adding a fanned cooled aux cooler from BD. Can I tap the temp sender into the supply lines?
Sure I suppose. I don't know what that would be but everything has an operating temp and being to cold isn't good either. You probobly would get leaky seals if it was too cold. Normal temps for an automatic is 60-80 degrees over ambient temps without pulling a load.
That is not a good place to put a sending unit. The smooth part of your sending unit may be larger than the bottom of the hole. When you tighten the unit up, the bottom locks down and then breaks off. Now you have a broken sending unit and a leak that may cost you 2 to 3 hundred dollars to fix. This problem has already been posted.
