Duramax: WAY too much smoke!

Ok so I was coming home from work and a guy in a nice looking Duramax passed me and floored it and blew smoke on me. Whatever, we were in traffic and it was no place to get crazy so I didn't bother with retaliation. However I noticed that this guys truck NEVER STOPPED smoking, never. Even sitting in traffic I could see black smoke puffing out of his exaust and when get got on it it smoked litterally like a freight-train, I mean there was so much smoke you couldn't see traffic. Funny thing was he was trying to show off obviously but his truck sure wasn't moving too fast, in fact it was kind of a dog. What could cause this, I think there is something wrong w/ his truck myself, but he sure was proud of all the smoke he was blowing.

he probly has efi live and made him self a tune the would smoke obnoctiously! with that much fuel hes probly flooding the motor and not making much power.

Looks like they both got cha covered - but still -- too bad ya couldn't have gotten close to him and killed him with the low power he was makin :D

he probalily made a smoke tune with the EFILive software and was out playing but thats one thing about the EFILive they now have a DSP switch so he can have up to 5 tunes switchable on the fly so he mite have been baiting with a smoke tune and then switch to his race tune to kill you..just a thought..
quick ?,where did you see this duramax.

Sorry for the late reply. I saw this truck coming through the downtown split in Columbus, OH. Yeah knowing my luck he probably was trying to bait me. I would not have raced anyway there was way too much traffic. I personally think he just enjoyed driving around pouring out tremendous amounts of black smoke. Hopefully the law saw him and pulled him over cause this thing was a hazard to other drivers. It was just below James Bond level smoke screen, it was quite a bit of smoke.

HAHA, AWESOME VIDEO!!! Well, the D-max wasn't THAT bad but it was getting there. His truck may have been able to do that but he was going faster than the guy in the video, at any rate it was obnoxious smoke. The kind of smoke that if we'd been driving in stand still traffic people would be forced to roll up the windows or sit there and gag. This was on I-70.

my buddy got a ticket in his dodge the other night for blowing smoke. officer wrote him a defective muffler ticket

Hahaha. That will get tossed out in court. WTF does a muffler have to do with blowing smoke???

#22 ·
that is what he said.

Cop was probably trying to send him a message. If it were mass, he could've got altered exhaust, emissions equipment, and no muffler. All of which is illegal in MA. Trick is not to get caught, or be a moron and black out every road all the time. I know plenty of troopers who have modded diesels, but don't act like the toolbags the environmentalists claim we all do. Perception is reality unfortunately.
