just wondering if anyone has had this problen and could possably explaine what is doing it>>>>> truck is an 2007 when the motor is cold like been sitting overnight it rolls white somke out the exhaust for about 10 minutes getting lighter as the motor heats up (looks lite a freight train) the smoke smells like unburnt fuel. after the truck warms up no smoke at all.... probably should have mentioned that i'm running DJ's looney tune.... this morning returned the truck to stock program verry little white somke for 1 minute then gone... also blowing coolant out of d-gas bottle........ removed the cap after driving seemed to hold more than normal pressure???? is the smoke normal for looney?
1st. the white smoke could be a sign of a bad EGR cooler (loosing coolant out the exhaust) I am on my 4th. one
2nd. make sure you are not overfilling the coolant bottle. there has been a TSB on this before and they put an updated fill label to show the correct level of coolant.
3rd. you could be headed to a potential head gasket failure.
but my instincts say with the white smoke, EGR cooler.
how would i go about checking the egr cooler? i have also seen the oil cooler could be causing this. the smoke happens every morning so that leads me to believe it's not the fuel
Yeah i agree about the EGR cooler. But maybe for the coolant loss you might also have a bad pressure cap. I have read a number of posts about some pressure caps that are letting coolant out or overpressurizing the system. How cold is a cold start, i mean outside air temp? Cause if its cold enough its gonna smoke white for a while till she warms up. Just some stuff to think about, good luck with your truck:thumb:
thanks for the info i think i'm going to get a new cap tomarrow ond try that
