I was looking under the truck todaty and I noticed oil leaking from somewhere. It looks like its coming out of where the headers meet the block. Does this look right or whats wrong. I also added a picture of the exhaust which looks like its got oil in it.
Just a very little bit of smoke but I think its because of the race tune. When I start the truck up cold it doesnt even make a diesel chatter noise. It almost sounds like a gas motor until the engine temps get in to the 70's. So I'm guessing the tune has it running fairly rich on fuel.
probably so... white smoke/unburnt fuel will cause exactly what you're seeing. it ends up looking like oil because the inside of the exhaust ports/pipe are coated with soot, so it looks like black oil leaking out. I wouldn't worry too much about it if everything is running well.
do you plug the truck in? do you let it idle to warm it up?

No I dont plug it in. And yes its on both sides. I also just had the head gaskets replaced with OEM gaskets at my lats oil change which was 3200 miles ago.
I would plug it in when it's cold if you can. Don't idle it to warm it up. Fire it up, let it idle enough to get your seatbelt on, check your mirrors, and set your radio station/volume and roll out.
seeing as it's both sides and all 8 ports, I doubt it's a HG, just unburnt diesel IMO
Mine is leaking something similar and it seems to be the turbo. Mine is an '06 that has a Ford installed Re-man turbo. Took the turbo off to install a few parts and realized the center section was dripping a little oil, seemed kind of odd. Looks like spring will be bringin' me a new turbo and maybe some 155 sticks.
Alright thanks so much for your help. I cant plug it in because im in an apartment complex. But I do run it on high idle until the temps get up to 100 and then I take off. I'm like a mile from the interstate and I get on the interstate everyday to go anywhere. So I usually like to let it warm up somewhat before I get on the road and have to accelerate up to highway speeds. Should I not even wait for ti to warm up and just go?
I did just have my turbo rebuilt, could that be part of the problem. I also just did the CCV mod to the atmosphere but I checked that hose and around the crank casre vent and its not leaking anywhere.
yes, fire it up, let it calm down a little (I know those 6.0's make some racket when you first light them off cold! LOL), and then drive it.
Just be easy on it until it gets up to temp. It's MUCH better for the engine to warm it up under load than to idle it. High idle is better than just plain idle, but getting it under load is best for it. Don't feel bad about slowly accelerating and turtling in the right lane till it's up to temp. They can go around you.
I had the dealer replace the HGs and I'm friends with the mechanic who worked on them. I'm not saying he couldn't have messed up but I doubt it. Also I dont think they would be leaking around all 8 cylinders.
Bad head gaskets on a 6.0 dont look like that typicaly (oil doesnt push out like one would think on our motors). It is coming from the top of your motor more than likely.
Fuel or oil leaking from the top of the engine will run back and run down the seem line of the head gaskets. Most likely originating from the top of the engine and running back.
Is it possible the o-ring seals on the glow plug boots are leaking? would make perfect sense to me if your seeing it right at each exhaust port which is right below the glow plug. Oil does flow through the plug ports (to keep em cool I believe)
Not sure about his situation but with my truck, it seems like the turbo is the source of the oil. And yes, it seems like it is dripping onto the top of the engine and following the heads and block to the bellhousing. And it is also leaking into the exhaust inside the turbo causing the oil in the exhaust pipe.
