I have a 99 f350 with 300,000 miles on it, It sat for awhile with only being driven here and there, very little at all. Every once and a while when I start the truck it takes longer than usual and sometime starts and dies immediatly. I seems like it is not getting fuel, changed the filter and it started better for a short time (few days and is having problems again, but doesn't do it all the time. It also has a major power loss when, especially noticable going up hills and when pulling trailers. I've ran diesel kleen and water remover through the gas. doesn't help. Its also makes the loud blowing sound between 1500 and 2000 rpms. Check engine light has never come on. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
sounds like ebp valve is sticking , if it was mine i would just wire it open and drive it and see if the power is normal, as far as it cranking and shutting off , the base engine oil pump may be getting weak and not feeding the hpop , once it drains all the oil out of the reservoir the engine shuts off and then it will restart after the base engine oil pump catches prime ive seen a few with high mileage do that
I read someones statement about checking the allen plug on top of the motor and see if the oil is no less than 1/2 an in from the top after it has sat awhile, and after it had set for about 5 hours it was still their. I also read that running lucus in the oil might help a weak pump, is that true? I'm going to throw another curve ball at you, I started it up after i had been driving it one day and it started really strong, put it in gear and started to pull off and i got about 10 ft down the road with plenty on power and then all of a sudden it cutout and came right back but was weak again. I keep thinking fuel problems, but am I wrong?
Alwright guys, i have replaced the cps and the problem is still their so I'm going back to the fuel. I heard the clicking sound under the dash today when it wouldn't start, I looked in the fuse box under the dash and the three relays that are in there the manual says they aren't for the fuel pump. If some one could tell me where the relay is and where I could put a fuel pressure sender for a gauge to put in my gauge pod. Thanks for the help
Check he battery voltage and the aternator output.....
