My dads buddy always gives me hard time for driving fords. he has always had duramaxs and always says how fast his is. Well today he came over to see my dad and he wanted to show me how a diesel is supposed to run lol! Well first he took my truck for a ride.....after he got it sideways till about 30mph he said that it was the fastest diesel he has ever rode in. He then proceeded to let me drive his 2008 extended cab 4x4 LMM. He put the superchip on it about a month ago. Its a very nice truck, and super quiet. I wasnt impressed with how the Allison shifted. We then raced 5 times three times in 2wd and twice both of us in 4x4 lauches. He never led, by the time we hit 90mph I had about 8 lengths on him. Needless to say I was pumped, got this guy to shut up about how bad his truck is
My father had one for a few days, I dislike them but that thing was fast! i was really supprised, from a stop as much as i hate to say this, It would walk off and leave my fathers 08 cc with out a problem. but there still but ulgy!
nice kill..i hate when guys do nothing but brag but when it matters they can't deliver.when ever you are runnin aftermarket hp all bets are off, what i'm trying to say is whoever has the best tuned truck wins doesn't matter on brand..also i hate superchips,if that guy had PPE or EFILive it would have been a different story "i think".just my thoughts
I agree. That is exactly what I told him. I told him if he bought an EFIlive I wouldnt be able to hold a candle to him. He then said Im gonna buy one of those:thumb:
but he needs a small tranny upgrade to run more then 150hp over stock also the PPE hot version for the LMM is runnin in the high to mid 13's so that might be the route he wants to go with..
With the superchips flashpaq, it only adds 77hp and 117lb-ft for the LMM on the highest setting. If i were him i would have went with the PPE or EFI Live. She'd run real well then :thumb: But he chose the fight.
thats the truth,a race is a race and losing is not acceptable(but boy does it happen alot when people raceoke )but if you want to win you have to be the faster one so again congrats go to the winner.
The PPE is the way to go in the dmax's, but you need the trans mod b4 sticking the power to it or it goes into "Limp Mode", but a 6leaker with custom SCT will give it all he wants, and still roll Coal!!
depending on your support mods a 6leaker with a custom tune can go high 13's to low 14's. Keep in mind I said custom tune. I would look at Tadd @ elite diesel for that tune.
the allison can support a low 14 sec truck(S/C-L/B or EXt/C-S/B trucks only)witch would be roughly a 225hp tune on the ppe but to run the ppe on the higher tunes and at it's full potential you will need a tranny and a fuel upgrade and if the truck goes on a slight diet(6300 pounds to 6500 pounds)you can see 12's..i agree the Allison isn't the strongest tranny avalible but it does a excellent job with in it's limits and that goes for torque shift also..
How long will the torque shift last at those levels? Is the stock converter ok? I am asking because my buddy has a 06 6.0 and has the edge att while my truck is a gm and I have an edge evo and like it but the edge is not as good on his ford. I have been looking for diff tuners for him and all I hear is sct for the ford. So there is a box tune sct and a custom version? Is it user programmable like efi?
No one can ever tell how long a tranny will last. The SCT is the only way to go with a 6leaker. The do have an EFI version. Tadds tunes will blow your buddy's mind compared to the edge stuff. One thing though if he's gonna crank up custom tuned power he may wanna think about headstuds
