i got mine from dieselmanor the brand in spectramatch, it works, but it doesnt match all that well at all, they sell the ford stuff, which is a guaranteed match, but depending on your year, they stopped making it, so they jsut sell what theyve got
do you have a local auto paint store anywhere? that is what i did, i took one of the caps off of the handle in with me and used their sample book to match it the best i could. turns out it was like a shade off but if you didnt know that you wouldnt be able to tell.
Yeah we've got one on the other side of town. I used them with my other truck and the guy there was an a-hole big-time. So they made my list.
I'd even rather buy online and wait. It's a matter of principle.
When you paint it do several coats so you get a nice finish when it dries.
Also use something like rubbing alcohol to wipe down your gauge pillar prior to painting. This way you get all the grease, oil from your fingers, and dust off it, plus rubbing alcohol evaporates so it dries with out wiping it down.
If you're going to spray paint interior parts (or any plastic part for that matter), make sure to get a plastic cleaner. Even then, I wouldn't bet on it sticking for too long. It may cost you more to go to a body shop, but there process is guaranteed to hold up.
I have the advantage of working in a body shop as a painter (so the materials are a LITTLE cheaper) and I painted mine, took me 10 min. to tint to the exact color, but it looks COMPLETELY FACTORY, color, matte, and all.:thumb:
