Don't bother.

According to this "tool," the duramax is the ultimate diesel engine....period.

While the duramax may be a decent power plant, it's too bad the rest of the truck is a POS regarding build quality and style.

Before committing to buying my current truck, I asked my fleet guy if I could test drive the Chevy and Dodge offerings (his dealership is affiliated with the other brands) just to see what they bring to the table.

The Dodge was decent, but kind of slow and did not have that "got to own" factor. Granted, this was with the Cummins motor before the power-increased version that was just released. Also, I don't like their dually bed styling. Finally, just couldn't see myself buying a truck from Fiat.

The Chevy had a dash rattle right off the lot....a truck with 10 miles on the clock and a dash rattle.....seriously??? What's going to start rattling after 100 miles??? Made a u-turn at the next light and brought it back. Proceeded to ask my fleet guy how much I needed to make the check out for, and to come get me in the customer lounge once they were done with the delivery prep and detailing of my new Ford.

FORD....you know, the company that didn't need to be propped up to stay in business.

The bailout to G.M., and Chrysler just delayed the inevitable, they both went through bankruptcy after receiving the BILLIONS of dollars.. Call me crazy but that was a bad investment!

Can anyone guess what this quote is from?

"180 miles on truck, something is broke"

O thats right its this forum. :hehe:

You only wish the other quote was about a 2011 Duramax. Instead, the 2011 Duramax blows past you on hills with a trans temp below 200 degrees unlike the Ford, and engine temp below 215 degrees, again unlike the Ford.

Oh dang, your motor runs cooler than mine, I guess I'll have to go sell out and get a GM dog turd.

I don't know why you're here, but in the other thread you said you weren't here to stir anything up, but that seems to be only thing you're doing. The whole thread about the "180 miles on truck, something is broke" is about 1 truck. I guess GM has never made a faulty truck. Sure there are problems with the 450 and 550 engines having valve problems and that's Fords fault. You know why you don't hear anything about the GM cab and chassis trucks? Because they barely sell any. That stupid box frame prevents any kind of upfitter from attaching most accessories. The C-channel on the Ford cab and chassis is upfitter friendly and that's why Ford is the #1 selling pickup. Even when you take GM and Chevy put together, Ford still outsells them.

Have you ever looked at used trucks and seen the price difference between, let's say, a 1999 Ford F350 and a 1999 Chevy 3500. They don't even compare, Fords hold their value 10x better than GM products. That's because the GM starts rattling after 20 miles (as mentioned previously). I've got 25,000 on my truck and it's just like new. Look at Ebay and sort the diesel trucks by price excluding new vehicles. Almost all of the top trucks are Fords. I buy my truck to work and to hold it's value. I don't really care if you can pass me on Eisenhower pass with 20,000 lbs, I'll still get to the top and mine will be worth more after I'm done. Go back to your buds at the Duramax forum and tell them all how bad you made us all feel about our trucks.:hehe::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford::icon_ford:

I'm so glad you brought up resale values. The Duramax has actually had the highest resale of any other diesel for the same amount of time since its introduction. Ford and Dodge have very similar resale values during this time, all less than the Duramax. Ford also has the second highest amount of incentives on its new HD trucks right, Dodge is first.

The 6.0 Ford has the worst resale value of any diesel pickup in history.

A used Duramax compared to a used Powerstroke, year for year, miles for miles, options for options, the Duramax will always be about 10% more money, trade-in or retail.

Don't even get me started on the Ford Taurus. Worst vehicle in history for resale value.

Ford doesn't want to redesign its frame because it costs money and posses for risk. Ford hasn't made much change to their frame since 1999.

Ford retail sales don't come close to GM trucks when combined. Ford gets most of its sales from fleet and commercial because the new cost is always less. Retail sales are from real people and fleet and commercial are for best contracts and lowest price.

Ford can keep their c channel frame, that twists and is weaker than a half ton frame. But the money and sales are in retail sales. A place Ford suffers.

Your information is so off its not even close, this forum needs a moderator just to keep the information on here accurate.

But I'm out of here, you guys are way to stuck in your bubble thinking Ford is the greatest thing ever and you don't even have many facts right at all. And I'm sure I will hear how great the 6.0 powerstroke is too since no one ever had problems with those, and how Ford did absolutley nothing to help.

You can now go back to your caves now since you don't like to hear the real facts.

I just gotta say, engine, and transmission built by FORD,can any other diesel truck say that??? :icon_ford:

All I gotta say is this: Ford didn't need a handout from the government to stay afloat.. :poke That's enough for me to never buy a GM product.

Yep. I cannot bring myself to buy something from a company that intentionally runs its company into the ground, then begs the politicians for money. Then proceeds to run the company into the ground .... again! Finally the .gov had to fire the CEO!

If GM is going to practice this, then they need to start handing out cars and trucks to the tax payers.

Wow....I went away a few days and this is what happen??
Sorry guys I didn't mean to start the hate fest but i stumbled on to this forum by accident while doing research for my friend who's looking in to getting an 08 Duramax!
Seriously? "Turn of the air and pop the hood?" While you driving? Is this regular practice for the people who drives GMC ? I'm just surprised thats all.
The last time I remember turning off the air and pop the hood was in the 80s when I had my 1979 Dodge motorhome with the 460 in it !
Anyway....here's the thread
