Early to late...

Early have smaller injectors, smaller HPOP, smaller turbo, Intake is differant, Intake manifolds are smaller, Y pipe is differant, Exhaust up pipes, and colector is differant. Mirrors do not extend, most have all metal Intercoolers, but the tubes are smaller, no insulation on the drivers side IC pipe. Differant steering box and pitman arm.

CSIPSD nailed it except you could get the extending mirrors on the early 99 too I know cuz my old work truck was an early 99 and it had em

You could add them after 99.5... But they were not made when the early 99's came out, just the great big long arm ones...

now for another stupid question what is a hpop? this is my first diesel. i use to own all gassers. i use to have a 1967 ford fairlane with a build 311 and 125 shot of nos and got my *** handed to me by a cummins from light to light, and being my blood is blue through and through i had to get a stroker.

OK guys with first diesel: Im a old diesel operator and owner Fords, Benzes, and a dispicibul chevvie bad news, the hpop is olny on a HUI system, what they calll IDI or indirect injection is kinda a misnomer but one of those uses a pump/distrubtor geared or timming chain run on the engine, They have the injectors on the top that look like a big steal spark plug with a line running to the injector, from hte distrubtior to each injector. thye both have the same outcome ie vaporising the fule... OK the Hpop replaces the pump distrubitor setup. FDDTS - Tech Publications this a sight that might help give you an understanding of a HUI system.... Hope this helps you <<<<<<<BILL>>>>>>>>

I have an early 99 my mirrors are extendable and my airbox pulls from the front infact we have an 02 f-350 drw at work and everthing appears to be the same except the 02 has the foil on the i/c tube

#13 ·
If yours is an early 99 somebody must swapped out the airbox

#15 ·
I have heard some of the m got updated by ford but im not sure but its definately an early 99 it has the fender badges and a production date of 8/98

#16 ·
JCS just so you know some of the early 99's had door badges

Early 99 hubs different than late 99

On my F250 SD 1999 7.3, I have a mfg date of 2/98 so this fits the early 99. In checking out the cost of replacing the hubs, there is a relationship to the date being manufactured, before or after 3/22/99. The early 99s have a 10mm rim and the later 99s (after 3/22/99) have a 13mm rim. We checked a couple salvage yards and one person said that the hubs manufactured in the early 99s were manufactured only 6 months.
............:ditto:

our early 99 flatbed had the air box changed by our local ford dealer to the newer style after they broke the clips for the lid...lol I guess ford covered it cause we didnt have to pay the truck was a little over 1 year old at that point

Just as an FYI....My 2000 pulls air from the front AND the fender. Dunno why...but it's different from all other 2000's I've seen.

build after 3/99 is 99.5 i thought, but I could be wrong. Mine is 2/99 and got everything the 99.5 has thought. I dont understand though. I guess b/c it was made in Ky they didtn know what was what

early 99

i ahve an early 99 the difference i can see and tell is that early 99 has a 100 garret a/r turbo with a wicked wheel stock post 99 has a smaller turbo without a wicked wheel but you can order one form garret i think there $75 not sure but its on there site.

other than that the bed on an early 99 had a recall they claimed that if you where hit in the bed the bed would fall off so they had you bring it to a dealr and they put straps form the frame to the bed to keep it from falling off.

my buddy bought a post 99 after i bought mine and his hubs and my hubs on the front are different and front brakes are different

that and i can blow him off the road stock heh.

oh btw if anyone needs some extra parts i have a early 99 powerstroke engine and ust about everything that goes with it for sale.
the motor was running when it was givin to me the guy put a cummins in his f-250(why i don't know stupid i guess)

and i also know where you can get e-350 powerstrokes for $3000 in alabama if anyone needs one. there out of ambulances and have 100,000 on them

Do you mean 1.00 a/r? I have a build date of 10/98 and I could swear mine says .84

I just bought a 12/98 build date F250 and it pulls
air from the front.I bought it from the original owner,
got all records on it,never been wrecked and there is no
indication the airbox has been changed.I am a Ford dealer
back partscounter guy so I pulled a CUDL and there is no
claim or reference to any work on the truck for it..

I have been lurking for awhile and decided to join the site
.The Zoodad mod is happening tomorrow evening for a start
and it will progress itno PMS I am sure.

Early 99 has a 1.1ar compressor housing and a .84ar exhaust housing. The wheel used in it is what others call the wicked wheel. If it has a 1.0ar exhaust housing it has been changed whether your records show it or not.

I have always been told pre 12/7/98 early99 and anything after that 99.5. I think ford was confused that year HaHa

If you have 2" intake plenums(orange boots at the bottom of the "Y") then you have an early99. This is the best way to tell.

If they are 3" then it is a late99.
