BANKS Exhaust

All right so my 2004 (built in 9/03) F350 6.0 has the 4" banks monster exhaust system and apparently since it was built in 03 the down pipe has a resonator to eliminate screechy turbo noise, but my truck is going into Ford on monday to get the turbo replaced. So the turbo will most likely be an upgraded turbo and not an 03 anymore. What I was wondering was if you guys had any ideas on whether I needed to place a new downpipe on it to eliminate the resonator or do I still need the downpipe with the resonator. I have both type of down pipes now its just which one I need to put back on hahaha. Thanks inadvance.

the banks i believe is a cat back system so it should be stock. as far as the DP i dont think it will need to be changed. you might also want to throw the cat back in unless the dealer is cool cause i have heard them to give issues. As well as some have issues with intakes especially if there is turbo issues.

Just as P99 stated I agree that your Banks is only a Cat back and the rest of your system should be stock. That means a few different things: 1 you can leave it alone when they change the turbo 2: Ask ford for a new down pipe and see how nice they are or 3:Create a hybrid exhaust. By that I would suggest talking to the folks at MBRP and order a new downpipe and all of the tubing to the cat. If you need to keep the kitty then do it or just pull it and mate the two exhaust together. Have fun either way

yeah the system has a stainless steel 3.5" down pipe with a resonator from banks. The cat has been eliminated, but my ford dealership are pretty good guys over there so they haven't said anything. I have a stainless steal 3.5" Banks downpipe without the resonator so I'm not too worried about finding the one without the resonator I just wasn't sure if I needed to change out the old down pipe with the new one without the resonator. Thanks guys
