Does anyone know if the aux input is hard wired into the head unit or if it just an input in the rear? I would like to run a cable from the head unit into the center console where I can hard mount my ipod.

Running the Aux input to center console would be an easy thing to do. If you remove the panel that holds the Aux input jack you will see that there is a 4 pin connector plugged into the back of the input jack. To put a jack somewhere else simply find a mating connector (probably very hard to do) or cut the connector off and splice new wires on then run them wherever you like. Then solder a new jack on the ends of your new wires and you are good to go.

If you need help to figure out which wire goes where on the new jack just let me know.

The AUX connector is a part of one of the wire harnesses running into the back of the stock radio. I don't believe it's proprietary, but I'll bet you that it's not easy to find the mating connector so that you can bring it back into the console.

If you haven't already considered it, look into purchasing a Bluetooth capable radio. You can stream audio from any bluetooth-enabled device (e.g., iPhone) straight into the radio. No wires, no fuss. Run your own power, or get a Pro-Fit mount to mount your device right onto your dash without drilling/taping.
