I blew out the cool inlet side intercooler pipe yesterday towing the jeep. was using a decent tune and making some boost when I heard a loud blow out and no power. I duct taped it with some gorrilla tape to get it home. Its working ok for right now. Who makes some good intercooler piping to replace this OE crap?

I guess you are talking about the CAC tube coming off the IC. I had a little bout with that not too long ago. If you clean everything real well, and make sure it is good and dry, you should be able to put it back on with the clamp and have it stay. At least mine did. I hate to say this, but the Banks stuff is good as far as the IC and the piping.

will the same boost tube from the '04's that is actually metal work better than the black plastic crap they started putting on the '05's?

if so, thats what i would do. i know they had some problems with the boot that connects the tube to the air intake elbow coming off, but the tube itself seems like it would be better to have the metal one.

the musta gone cheap onthe sick. Oh's the 7.3's had metal tubes :( isnt the 05 still under warantee?

He is talkin about the rubber boots not the tubes themselves. But yeah they are about 25 bucks or so at the dealer. Give em a shot of cheap white rain hairspray on the inside of the boot slip it on and tighten the clamp as good as you can. That stuff acts like superglue

I used to take Mom's hairspray to get my mountainbike handlebar grips to stay on better. Now I use a mechanically fastened type. It still works for my motorbike grips.

Use brake cleaner to clean the boots and let dry, spray with hairspray, slide inplace and clamp to specs. Do CCV reroute to prevent from slipping off. A torn boot is not going to be remedied by this.

yes that is what Im talking about....the intercooler outlet pipe that connects to the elbow on top of the engine.

no big deal, between me and you I was running the loooney and towing about 7K and boom she blew. Easy fix, just need to decide which intercooler piping to get. I was pretty impressed with the six oh, I went 60 miles with a blown intercooler line, up and down some decent hills and she made it...granted it was searching for power, and the EGT's were climbing but the 6.0L didnt leave me stranded:thumb:
