I snooped around on the website, and I've found good info on the cam position sensor and air filters. But, I need to know what are good choices for oil, oil filters, and fuel filters. I plan on moderate driving, and I'll change the oil about every 3000-3500 miles. What is a good choice for oil and oil filters?

What's the recommended fuel filter change interval? What brand to buy?

Thanks in advance.

rotella isnt a bad oil, but if you are gonna do regular changes like you say......every 3-4k.....i would just stick with good old motocraft. filters and oil are availabe at your ford dealer, walmart, and autozone........Marc

I used Shell Rotella for the longest time, but seeing as I can get CAT Synthetic DEO (made by Mobil) cheaper, I'll be switching with the next oil change.

Between Rotella, Chevron Delo and Mobil, you'll do just fine.

One thing that I have heard almost unanimously, avoid Fram filters like the plague!!!

I use Shell Rotella 15w40, top of the line Wix oil filter, Wix heavy equipment air filter (i did the high flow mod) and a Motorcraft fuel filter cause i understand the newer Wix fuel filters don't have a long enough peg to open the fuel inlet window all the way

I'd love to use synthetic oil like i do in my gasoline engines, but since these 7.3 diesels seem to go 300,000 on dino oil pretty commonly and they use 4 gal of oil per change i can't justify the expense at this point

I work at a CAT dealer myself, what part# oil are you going to be using?

You think its well worth going that route?

I have an 2001-2002 One Safe Source book that lists DEO 5W-40 Synthetic in one gallon containers as part # 141-3339. I'll still check tomorrow at the office. I also have the filter numbers for both fuel & oil for our trucks in my desk.

Is it worth it? Cat engine oil is made by Mobil and from just about every source i've read, Mobil is the top synthetic. Besides, it gives me an excuse to go hassle the parts guys!! :D

Who are you with? Beckwith?

Yes, 141-3339 looks to be the right part number.

For filters, use 238-3897 for the oil filter, 243-9190 for the fuel filter and 243-9931 for the tranny filter.
