anything i should know fellas i never had a ford be4 are they reliable ? i pull a gooseneck and tractor sometimes not to often but sometimes, anything to stay away from ?
Not going to lie to you, gas mileage sucks hard! I average around 10.2 but I do mostly city driving. The truck itself is a beautiful piece of machinery. The faster you can get rid of the DPF (diesel particulate filter, not trying to be an a$$ just making sure you know what it is) that will get you more reliability and more power and better gas mileage.
thanks stroking , yes dpf delete and tuning will be right when i buy it , my dad has a 2008 dmax and we did that stuff and tuned it with efi live so i assume its all the same
Job 1 was thru 07/07 job 2 started then and went till 12/07 job 3 was from then on, The radiators have a strong tendency to leak, some are caused by hyperextended thermostats but it seems like most some aren't, (cost approx $1500 to fix) few seem to be covered under the powertrain warranty (only the ones with hyperextended thermostats are covered), Just search "Radiator" and you will find more reading material than you know what to do with. I have a job 1 and other than the radiator I love it!!
yes Job 1's had a few more issues, but 99% of the job 1 trucks out there that had issues have been fixed. Job 1's are good trucks (mines a late job 1 and never had a single issue with it) but job 2 had the fixes made before it left the factory, and job 3's were pretty issue free since by then they had figured out all of the issues...
Welcome aboard. Like everyobe has said towing and mpg suck big time. Get rid off the dpf and tune and at least then you will improve the mpg. Good luck!!
I dont feel that towing with this truck ever sucked? Even bone stock there was plenty of power to move what ever you wanted to tow, tuned its just even better....
like the others have said, mpg stinks but lose the dpf/doc get a tuner and the truck can breathe like it should. Mine runs so good with a tuner and ive never had a real issue with the truck (job 2).
My highway before dpf delete was around 13-14 and now its anywhere from 17-19 most days... (thats on 75-80 mph on the highways here in CO)
