My name is wayne, and i am a dieselahaulic... I just got te truck in my sig. very happy with it! I came into the PSD from a cummins. In all honesty the cummins is a great machine but its wrapped in a Dodge, so well you know! Waste of a good powerplant! Anyway, i picked it up lastnight and on the way home in top gear i put it into #4 pos on the chip and gave her hell! 60- 90 mph was mind boggling fast, bit when i got to 90 or so the check engine light came on.... truck runs great still , the pyro went to just about 1250-1300(pre turbo) i let off, pulled over, let it spool down for about 5 mins and shut it off. is fired right back up and the light was off. i have not since been to get it checked. does this happen sometimes? I am sure with the chip some things get out of peramiter sometimes and possibly fool the ECU. I will get it checked monday. Any ideas?? Still runs great, with out incident.

Welcome to the .ORG! I am guessing from everything I have read that either your ETG's were too high or you overboosted... but I could be totally wrong as I have a 99-03 F250

Glad to have you here!

welcome to the forum.. finnally another florida man. id be willing to bet u over boosted. better be careful goin to high witht hose OBS turbo's they are not ball bearing so they dont like the high boost levels. trust me i done had one tae a crap on me when i was gettin 40psi outta mine

overboosting this once wouldnt have hurt anything would it? is this an overboost of that could kill mechanically or is it one that prob just tricked the map sensor? to tell you the truth i wasnt paying attention to the boost guage, mainly the egt. i "assumed" it wouldnt be able to make massive boost with a basically stock turbo. i know the old 6bt wouldnt, with stock turbo housings it just wouldnt flow the air. hopefully i didnt "F" anything up. my truck was built in 11/96, there isnt anything i should know about the 7.3 from this timeframe? weaknesses and such. i sure as hell dont want to kill this thing.

hey there bud ur goin down the same path i am so ill give u some advice... i just studed my motor and pulled it out so i wouldnt have to fight those HEAVY a$$ heads in and out of the engine compartment. and with those 160cc beans injectors u better start savin for a ball bearing turbo cuz that one is gonna be takin a crap if u get on it much... i was runnin about wat u r and i already blew mine. the bushings that were designed for 20psi dont like 40 psi at all and i bet thats wat ur close to havin

interesting, i guess i should not beat on it too hard till i get some more mods done... i sure as hell dont wanna kill anything yet... one thing, my turbo has an upgraded exhaust housing supposedly, i will need to investigate.... i sure dont want to replace the turbo yet... i gotta get more than 100 miles on her first lol! i wonder if the bearings are already shot. it doesent seem to want to boost much unless your hard in it. it sits at zero most of the time at part throttle cruise. even up and down grades and over 70 mph as well. i figure it should be boosting some!
