I went with an AutoStart cost me $580.00 installed at my local place here in Canada. So aftermarket was a no brainer for myself. Research it heavily. There are even some out there now you can start with your smart phone.

From what I understand most of the remote starts require a key so the remote start unit can actually start the vehicle. On my truck in order to do it I woudl have ot have a key made and installed in a module. I wired up a Clifford two way alarm on my truck and it has a remote start option ( well it has a ton of options) but decided against it.

I only paid 190$ for my alarm. it has a turbo timer option, cab temp option etc. its a Clifford Responder LE. I think the 2.2 the newest one is a 3.something version. Not much has changed.Install took about 2 hrs and that was because i soldered the wires wrapped them in tape and wire loom to make it look like part of the factory wiring harness. ( Hey what can I say i was bored that day and it was sitting on the shelf in the garage waiting to be installed anyway) Only reason you can tell there is a alarm is because of the blue LED on the shock sensor. I also have a starter kill in addition to the alarm. I dont wanna mess with the electronics too much on the truck

I just got done with mine. It took me a little over a hour to do it. Most of the kit i got just plugs into the factory harness. I had to splice in 2 wires that where in the door sill and one to the brake pedal. Works great and it does have a 30 second delay for the glow plugs. This is the factory Ford 1 button remote starter. For the little extra money i spent it made it easy to install. You can get this from http://www.kcautosound.com/7W3Z-19G...Starter-For-09-up-F150--c-739-p-1-pr-985.html . Great guy that will make it easy for you.

It has been working great. I wish it would start quicker than the 30 second delay but i am told it isn't adjustable for the diesel. It has good range and the 1 button remotes are very small. I never installed a remote starter before but this kit made it simple to do. You must have a 5.5 m socket to get the steering wheel surround off nothing else will work on these screws. Its a strange size and not everyone has them. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

So Gary,

Just to be sure, the remotes that come with the kit replace the ford remotes and the new remotes are able to control the door locks and panic button? Also you don't have to leave a key in the truck so it will start correct? With the wx getting colder I am looking to do this mod now.

Thanks again,

This kit comes with its own remote with just one button on it to start the truck. You keep your factory remote to unlock the doors. The kit comes with a module that acts like a key.
