Since the intake heater is pretty much worthless since it hardly ever turns on, how about wiring it to a switch so you can turn it on and off? Would it help warm the truck up quicker and stuff if you could wire a switch to it and actually make it come on?
Not so for a idling diesel in cold weather my friend......cylinder head temps can drop significantly at idle with no load placed on the engine and actually get cold enough to cause carbon and gum buildup on the valves....thats why the high idle system is in there as well as the intake heater to help boost cylinder head temps for sustained idle in cold weather with no load.
So since it hardly ever comes on, would it be worth wiring a switch to it to turn it on when its cold out to help warm up the truck? Would it actually help with anything?
