just curious when you run stacks do you still run a muffler or no because I ran straight pipes for a few days...well just my down pipe and it was really loud but it kind of decreased my preformance. just wonderin what worked for others thanks alot:toilet:

I run a 3 down pipe and 4 in with no muffler and it sounds great i run my out behind the tire i have thought about stacks but havent got there yet

I'd say you can do it any way you like.. use a muffler, or don't.

I don't know if the factory muffler will fit with a stack kit, but I'm sure there is an aftermarker unit that will.

I run a downpipe to 4 inch to 5 inch stack, love the sound. If you want mbrp has an 18" muffler that would fit between the downpipe and elbow to the stack on my reg cab. Good luck Don't quote me on the exact length of the muffler, it is 2" give or take.

You truck ran like crap cuz you were just running the downpipe and it won't create enough backpressure. There are a couple guys here that run stacks and put a muffler on and noticed an increase in performance. Just a thought.

He has a 7.3 so he doesnt need backpressure. When I had my 97 it was only run with a downpipe for like a year and never noticed any decrease in performance. Is the decrease felt by seat of the pants or a real dyno?

At the best all I've ever heard is that a muffler will give a little more low end? So sounds like you're SOL cuz sounds like youre happy with the low end. Good luck with it. Who knows throw a muffler on there and see if it helps?? Do you have any pre turbo exhaust leaks??
