Want a New Stereo

OK y'all...I'm THINKING about getting a new stereo for Brisco. WHY?? B/c I have noticed lately that my iPod adapter (FM thingy) is getting a lot of static and I would REALLY like to have a GPS system. I'm a little partial to Pioneer b/c that is what I have right now, (as well as the iPod adapter that plugs into the back of the stereo, but it doesn't work with MY Stereo.)

SO, anyone with a Pioneer Indash LCD stereo, post some picks and let me know what you like/dislike about your systems. I'm going to be running around to some pawn shops to find something in my price range.

This is by no means a "I'm getting a new stereo" post. I'm just tossing the idea around, and if I can find something cheap that will work with my iPod thingy, I just might buy it. Thanks in advance!!!
:D

I'm saving my $ for the Pioneer Avic-N2 or N3 - it's a pretty sweet setup.

I like 'em too...just not the price. I would prefer something with a flip-up screen so I can keep my pocket that is under the stereo now. It holds my ciggy pack perfectly.

I have an alpine, and they make an adapter that plugs into my ipod, and lets me control it from the deck (or remote). It's WAAAY better than an fm modulator. I've had if for a couple of years, I can't think of what the model # is, I'd bet you could get one now for a reasonable price. I'll try to find it. I don't have my truck today, but I'll look online and see if I can find it

I have always been a Pioneer man until they newest models. I just don't like the styling anymore and that is 1/2 my decision. I have an alpine now that is ipod compatible (even though I dont have an Ipod) And I love it. Took some time getting use to cause I always owned pioneers but is an awesome radio.

I have the iPOD adapter but it doesn't work with my current Pioneer stereo...hence me having to use the durn FM Modulator. I dunno what it is but over the last year or so, it's getting harder and harder to find a station that isn't being used, and/or getting a lot of interferance from powerlines etc. That's what I get for buying a Stereo in Japan!

I don't know by model year, but one way to tell is if you have an AUX button on the control panel. If you don't have an AUX button then you don't have inputs for the Ipod.

My dad has a Pioneer GPS system built into the dash in place of the stereo system. He has an 07 though and installed a DVD player in it too. It's all touch screen and the GPS works great. I'm guessing the maps are updated so we haven't gotten lost yet lol. I'm not sure on the ipod compatibility though. I would ASSume that its compatible but since my Dad doesn't have an ipod, he doesn't have the plug

For sure!!! I haven't had a chance to go looking yet. I've been looking online but haven't made a 100% determination yet.

I think I've changed my mind on the one I'm looking at - the Pioneer Avic-D3 seems pretty cool. I've read a lot on it and the folks who have it seem to love it. The price still sucks but none of these things are cheap I've noticed.

I've been reading up on Crutchfield and they are saying that NONE of the DD units fit in the dash!! Is that true or is it just a case of doing a little sanding? I'm thinking I'm leaning more toward the 7800MP or the 9800BT. Still not sure yet. I have to get to a pawn shop and look at what they have. Also, ebay has been hooking me up with seeing different stereos.

Requirements are:
Compatable with iPod (must control the durn thing)
Blue Tooth would be nice
Big viewing area
good looks
easy to control
Is a Pioneer...(b/c I really don't feel like rewiring)

I had a Kenwood DPX-501 DD unit installed in my truck about 6 months ago, and I love it!!! It has a USB port right on the front of the face. You can plug in a Attache 4GB stick, cost @35$ from ebay and have 1000+songs at your finger tips. Software from Kenwood to controll the USB flash drive is great.:yikes: I have a Jenson 8.5 overhead DVD unit and it goes straight into the radio so that I can let the kids listen through factory speakers. It also has SIRIUS radio and you can get HD radio components as well. I will try and take some pics and post later.
