I have the 6 cd radio non audiophile, driving down the road the radio will just turn off for no reason. You dont have to hit a bump or touch the radio, you never know when its going to happen, you could drive 4000 miles with out it doing it. Any ideas?
Called the dealer about it a while ago, they said they would replace it, would it be worth it to pay the extra and get the audiophile or stick with the original one? I plan on up grading to a amp and sub etc but was going to use the stock head. Thanks Mike

Dealer said they would swap out the stock head for a new one so I dont need to find one, just curious if its worth the money to up grade to the audiophile, and seeing if anyone else has had this issue. Thanks for the reply though, Mike

Just so you know there is more to the audiophile system than just the head unit. In fact I do not think (at least its that way with the nav system) there is any difference in the head unit for a truck that has audiophile and one which does not. The audiophile system mostly brings you more (better quality??) speakers. There are separate tweeters in all four doors along with the full range speakers (also in the doors) and there is a sub woofer (with it's own amp) behind the rear seat. If your truck did not come with the audiophile system it is not likely to be wired for it. So even if you bought all the parts (speakers , sub and amp) you would still have alot of wiring to do to get it all working.

Now if you are interested in upgrading to the nav system thats a different thing...but upgrading from the 6 disc radio to the nav radio alone will not give you the audiophile system.

Thanks, I was thinking the radio might be different as welll as all the speakers.
