I have a guy at the Rifle Instructors Boot Camp I am holding this weekend who has a 96 Ford 7.3 Powerstroke engine that keeps shutting down. He had no problems on the way here, but the engine died while he was driving locally here. He tried to restart but it would not. He then switched tanks and got it started but it only ran another quarter mile and died again.
I looked at the fuel filter and it appears clean, the fuel in the filter cannister appears clean and no sediment on the bottom of it. I did not see any water in the filter or filter holder.
W let it sit there for a while and then tried starting it again and it started fine, but quit after about three minutes. We bought a new fuel pump for it and put it in last night, and when we were through it startedd fine and ran for about 3-4 minutes and then quit again.
Any ideas on what is causing it to run out of fuel or keep quitting after thre to four minutes? Thanks
