Whats the best way to get the turbo off a 96. Seems to be bolted to the exhaust manifolds and the lower passenger side bolt i cannot get to. I am trying to put a new fuel pump on .And while i am replacing the o-rings at the base of the turbo any thoughts on any mods I should do ? after I replace hpop and fuel bowl o-ring I am gonna go with a after market 3inch down pipe 5 inch stacks afe cold air intake and 6 position chip. Thanks for all ur help so far guys
As far as the bolt you are speaking of....its a PITA!!!!! I used a distrbutor wrench on mine, after letting it soak awhile with penatrating liquid (pb blaster/ wd-40 etc) sprayed on it. The up pipe bolts on the passenger side are also a pain and time consumming. With 2 people, 1 up top, guiding you, and yourself laying under the truck with a rachet and sevral extensions, you can get the drivers side up pipe bolts...
Yank the turbo pedistol and delete the expv acuator rod. Look for the the mod in the 7.3 foroums, its pretty straight foward. I also removed the butterfly in the exbp housing. Drill the 2 riviots out, remove buterfly, knock the rod out, find a freeze plug and knock into the open hole. Just my 2 cents worth...less to give you problems later on.
Chuck thanks for the info I was wondering about EBPV. gonna do your mod on it too.
Thanks again 4 your help
