Modded my running boards/steps.

I finally got around to modding my OEM steps to make them look like they should have from the factory. I like the clean look without them at all but, they are functional and help with the kids and mom in short skirts getting in and out. I have always hated how far down they hung. In my opinion, on a 4wd everything should be tucked up as far as possible for clearance reasons and they just looked retarded hanging down so low. So, yesterday I brought the porta-band and my bag of Dewalt goodies with me to work to finally remedy this.

I raised them roughly 2 1/2" which put them close enough to look right without any worry of contact with any sheet metal. You can see how much by looking at the two lower bolts and the slots they used to be in above them.>>

Sorry for the cell/camera quality:rolleyes:
It took about 2.5 - 3 hours taking my time. Nothing hard about it. Just like carpentry work, measure twice and cut once. Hope everyone enjoys the writeup. Terry

Schweet! I never liked how low my steps hung either especially when doing a little off roading. I always cringed getting into borderline high center situations thinking the steps would hit first and bend my rocker panels. I'm definitely doing this when I sand all the rust off and herculiner mine.

Are you doin your rockers with the herculiner

Im not a fan of the herculiner product I did my bed in a 92 chevy with that stuff the majority of it peeled up after a year of abuse my linex and rhino have taken that abuse and more

Just measure how much you want off before you take them off the truck. Then cut and redrill the factory mounts. It took all of two hours to do it but, I had a drill press to push the holes through quick. I also cut the plastic cosmetic covers and replaced them so it looks stock. Quite a few people ask about them after looking all puzzled.

Thanks Stump for putting it where it belongs... and thanks for the props everyone:D . Terry
