I'm looking for a new rear takeoff chrome bumper for my 08 FX4 and all I can find are the ones that do not have holes for the reverse sensors. I'm thinking I can buy a regular bumper and then drill the holes for the sensors, however I'm concerned the chrome my start peeling where I drill. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
First, tape it up good and drill through the tape.
Second, you should punch a start dimple into the metal to keep the bit from walking.
Third, use a new or sharpened bit and increase size by incriments.
After the hole is drilled put clearcoat paint over the new edges to keep the chrome from flaking off.
