fuel tank question

So I filled up my truck today and on the front tank I had gone 330 miles and 150 on the back. The rear tank took 12 gallons giving me roughly 12 mpg. The front took right at 13 giving me roughly 25 mpg for the front tank. Now neither of these sound right, but the 19.2 overall does. Is there any way that my truck started pulling from the rear tank before I flipped the switch. Also the front tank was all highway miles going 55 except for about 15 miles when I was going about 75-80. The rear tank was all city driving. I didn't think that hwy to city driving would make that much difference.

97, extended cab, long bed, with a 5 speed, and 3.55 gears, stock tires and exhaust with dyi air intake.

Also I shift at about 1500 rpm.
