This coming week is going to be the start of a new driver! I have always owned a F150 and am now finally stepping up and am getting my self a 2010 F250 King Ranch 4X4.. This is my dream truck. :icon_ford: I know in due time that I will get a programmer to blow the doors off of all my friends who drive Cummins and Duramaxs.. The Spartan chip deffinately caught my eye but i have no idea about these DPF Delete kits nor what they do or why they are needed?!? What if I just purchase the chip alone? idk HELP!!! Im a rookie at all of this!
DPF delete is the best thing since sliced bread for these truck! better mpgs/performance just with that alone. you can get a chip (yes Spartan is one of the best if not the best) with out DPF delete but why:dunno:
2011 SD's will have the 6.7 powerstroke in them fyi, not the 6.4. spartan has more than proven them selves on the 6.4 but i dont know about the 6.7. someone will chime in:icon_ford:
But what is a DPF Delete and how do I get it? Where does it go? What does it do? :dunno: I feel like a complete idiot because I have absolutely no clue about any of this... If all this falls through this week then this website will be seeing alot of me..
Do I need to get a DPF/CAT Delete pipe exhaust? Or does that really matter? Id prefer to save the money and not get one but do i need it to not have problems?
a dpf is kinda like a honey comb filter that is in your exhaust. like a cat but 10 times the restriction. it cleans up the exhaust a lot. but dont feel bad taking it off or anything. diesel's burn cleaner than the latest and greatest gas cars anyway. just a fact of life. people see all that black smoke and think that its killing people left and right, not exactly true. i read somewhere that older body style (OBS) powerstrokes and cumming 12V exhaust was just as non eco friendly as the new toyota hybrid cars. plus they have to replace their batteries every 100,000 or so miles, hybrid cars save lots of gas. thats about it, imo.
you can get it through them if you want. but like anything, shop around. there are many sponsors on here that can get you some prices.
you can learn a lot by asking questions, and please do. but this site is full of information, use the search bar and you will learn a lot quick. i think learning about what your going to buy before you buy it is the best thing you can do for you and your truck. you will save money and time when you do buy it! thats for sure.
