I have my truck at the dealer rite now and they are saying that i have an injector hanging open with no cel and they need to take out each one to check them and charging me 1200 dollars to do so , My problem with this is not my fault for no cel why should i have to pay for that labor to remove the injectors on by one ?
There has got to be a way to diagnose other than pulling all injectors. First off i would try and determine which bank it is on by exhaust caracteristic from each bank. Once you narrow down which bank than you are only dealing with 4. From ther you should be able determine which one it is by sound i would think. I dont think there is a eletronic way to tell if so you would throw a CEL. I am no tech but that would be the rout my backyard ace would take.
So basicaly the dealer is saying the selenoid is firing but the plunger is not. There has got to be a diference in the sound of the injector that is not working properly. I use a stethascope to pinpoint such problems. some times i get lucky.
Thanks all for the replys . And yes injector is dumping into the CC filled it up the are going to change oil service writer told me on the phone that they need to pull the valve covers and test each injector . Th F'ed up thing is I have had this truck for two years bought from a dealer with 56,000 mile on the clock and it now has 74,000 on it and it has been in the shop for two egr coolers leaking hose on egr cooler and the last time it was in for Head gaskets , egr valve , oil cooler and turbo service . Though I would be able to get at least 100,000 on this
Injectors can be hit and miss some times. Dads duramax is on his third set on a bone stock truck. I have a few that are failing for the first time at 170K miles. And have not had any other major issues. My truck is also a 2004.
