And is it also true that they are not good if you put a chip on them. i was not wanting to sex it up or anything but i would like it to hav the banks 6 gun and an exhaust.

Like i say not tryin to fire people up but i just do not know what the truth is on these trucks

What about a 6.4? :dunno:

It has the 5 speed auto too. But it does seem like there are some 6.0 owners that haven't had many problems, and some that have spent a little extra money to do head studs etc. to avoid any problems. I'm not sure what all is included in bulletproofing the 6.0's, but that's something you could look at too.

I have thought abut a 6.4 but they are like a 30K truck and i don't have that kind of money. i may look at getting a 7.3, i'm lookin at the 200-2002 range but if i found a good 95 or so i would consider it. i just dont want a truck that is goin to be issue after issue

There are tons of 6.0's on the road without major issues. Yeah it's a good idea to do the EGR delete and put in ARP studs. I love my 6.0 and plan on keeping it for a long time.

6.0 the egr delete and a few other minor things and you have a good truck. Head studs yes if you plan on going big HP or big boost.
7.3 is the old trusty I love mine. you will not build HP numbers as easially with a 7.3 as you can with a 6.0. However will a few basic mods the 7.3's run great and for a long time. The thing is international built the 7.3 as a bulet proof work horse. not a powerhouse. The 6.0 is a faster motor if you are talking street performance.
Both motors are good you need to decide what you want out of your truck and that will decide what you need to buy. Also the 7.3's came with 5 and 6 speeds also.
good luck

My 06 just turned 100k, very trouble free. Left the engine stock, no problems.

Don't believe everything you read on the net. When it goes wrong, everyone talks. When it goes right, no one says anything. Head studs are a cab off change, but it's more like $2k-3k. Need that only if you add power, and heck it already has 325hp.

Can't beat the 5R110 auto trans that comes in the later 6.0's - almost never causes problems, even with more power. Tranny work costs as much if not more than engine work.

You also have to remember the driver factor....

Hate to be "that guy", but the life of the 6.0 also relies heavily on driver/maintenance habits. When properly maintained and driven, you should not have anything crazy happen. The studs are great insurance as is the EGR delete. Just make sure you find a reputable shop to do the work if youre not doing your own. Gotta love the shops that get one apart and realize its not a 77 chevy big block....
