I just bought an 03 350 fx4 6.0 two weeks ago. In the glove box was a stack of dealer service sheets. Among the sheets were regular scheduled service and a lot of warranty work orders.
The truck runs awsome and looked perfect when I drove it off the lot. Well the next day I noticed I had an oil leak. So I took it to a good friend at the local dealership (he is the lead diesel tech) and he pulled the report on the trucks history. About 4k miles ago the following was replaced: both heads due to cracking ,the turbo due to over heating, front hubs, and ball joints.
Now I am just a parts changer but logic tells me that heads usually crack due to excessive heat. Is that a safe asumption? Having everything but the short block changed, should that be the end of my worries?
The oil was leaking around a couple of o rings and is also still leaking from the front main seal. The truck has 70+k on it and has all the new sensors and pcm updates. The coolant was a little low when I brought it in and I hope the block is'nt warped. Could that happen on a 6.0? Are the heads 2 piece heads aluminum/ cast steel? I hope i need encouragement and not sympothy but all input is greatly appreciated, Chad
Oh yea and one of the warranty probs was the wif sensor was replaced several times and yesterday the wif light came on. What's up w/ that. Is there a seperator drain on the filter?
