I like the look of the black Recon mirror lights, they run about $100, and a can of Nite Shades run $10. Will Nite Shades look the same? Or will it not do as good of a job?
i used a taillight paint (not nightshades), and they turned out perfect, i did my tails, fogs, and rear "ford" emblem for $50 (2 cans) nice gloss to them as well
If you use the VHT jus take your time it usually turns out nice... Also put clear over it, it turns out alot better and looks good, the taillights in my pic are VHT...
I recently picked up a H2 for my wife...I know not a superduty....but I did the corner marker lights and the tails with the NiteShades...it came out great...I have Recon cab lights going on Saturday thats why those are not done. I will say the ones on my truck that I had done at a bodyshop..are a bit better...more shiny...but the niteshades one are not too shabby.
After this last pic was taken I actually did the ones in the bumper as well.
it's a japanese paint (i get it at an import performance store) but i;ve good things about nightshades, i really didn't prep at all, i just cleaned them real good and started spraying, did as many coats as i like, then 2 coats of a clear and done. I did this on my nissan titan and it lasted the life of the truck.
When I did mine, I used a scott pad to scuff the plastic. Cleaned with acetone and a tack cloth. Two coats of niteshade with a wet sand between coats and 3 coats of clear. Turned out great, but be careful of how heavy you spray the niteshade. I went too heavy on one and had to sand back down to plastic and start over. I am out of town working, but if you do a search of my post you will find pics of the taillights.
