A little question for you people with bumper pull travel trailers.
I just got a 2007 33' Jayco with one slide that weighs in just under 7k.
hooked up to the X it sits almost level, squating the rear only a 1/4'' or more. my question is do i just stay with the standard sway bar or do i need the entire weight distribution and sway control.
I don't want it to move while passing them big rigs!!
what are yall using??
Thanks
for 7k i personally wouldnt worry but if u want to tow nething above 10 id get a wd setup ... if u dont want it to move and u may be towing more it the future then go with a nice wd setup and you have it for when u need it ... but for 7k i dont think its mandatory imo
HEY, I HAVE A CREW CAB 2005 F-250, I OWN A 30FT 5TH WHEEL CAMPER, BUT WHEN I TOW ANY TYPE OF TAG-A-LONG CAMPER, I USE A WEIGHT DIST. HITCH. IT KEEPS THE LOAD MORE LEVEL WHILE TOWING, AND KEEPS THE REAR OF THE TRUCK FROM BOUNCING UP AND DOWN AS MUCH, WHEN HITTING BUMPS, OR JUST ON A ROUGH ROAD/INTERSTATE. YOU CAN GET BY WITH JUST A REGULAR HITCH. IT'S UP TO YOU. I RECOMMEND THE WEIGHT DIST. HITCH. IF YOU'RE GONNA BE TOWING A WHOLE LOT, I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU GET A HITCH WITH SWAY CONTROL ALSO. TRY IT BOTH WAYS, I BET YOU'LL CHOOSE THE WEIGHT DIST. TOO.......
THATS JUST MY 2 CENTS.

Spend a few hundred bucks and get a decent WD hitch. This isn't just a one time pull and you're gonna have your family with you, right? Do it the right way and you can keep your family safe. It'll be money well-spent.
think i am going to go with the equal-i-zer or eaz-lift...anyone use either one. then i am going to use a sway bar on each side. i figure that should keep it straight as an arrow.
equal-i-zer 4 way all in one IS Great has to big bars you don't need sway bars all built in one hitch it's great. Them big ol trucks can go buy me and my dully at 90 and me doing 80 and everytning just sit;s there nice and right no suction off those big rigs at all doesn't move a bit.
280 bh toyhauler 34 foot total lenth.

I would get the WD hitch for sure! Isnt the factory hitch only rated at 5k w/o a WD hitch? a bumper will sway, do anything and everything to stop it and your life will be better.
got a wd and a sway bar hooked up now. havent pulled it with the x yet. but have pulled it with my buddys 08 durmax thats on 35s and it didnt move at all. so hopefully i'll be good to go
