I have searched to no avail. What does the OE Electronic restriction gauge that attaches to the airbox do?

I am installing an S&B Air intake and appears I dont have to install what they call the 'electronic restriction gauge'

This is on a 99 F250 Superduty

For what i can tell not much I have had pretty dirty filters before and the darned thing still read visually that the filter was clean. I unhooked it when i did My DIY Intake.

Mine never seemed to change no matter how dirty or clean the stock filter was. When I did the DIY filter/intake I just tossed it.

You dont have the part they are talking about... Only the 2002 and up have the eletronic verson of the sensor... You have the restriction gauge, toss it and plug the hole...

Oh sorry about that  didnt think about the "electronic" part.

Mine is an 01 and it had the electronic sensor the little white thing that went into the factory airbox or is that for somethin else. it was on the ingoing air part of the filter bottom part of factory box.

Ok...

There are two sensors that go into the airbox area on the 2002's and up...

One is the intake air temp, the other is the restriction gauge.

on the 99-01 trucks there is only one, the intake air temp sensor...

If you can get the intake air sender in a port of the intake fine, if not throw it in the general area and it will be fine.

The restriction gauge is dumb, throw it away and plug the hole.
