PLEASE READ,UPDATE WITH IMPORTANT QUESTION

It didn't work.I cut the green wire with the black tracer that was in spot 13,grounded it,and no foglights???They wouldn't come on at all.I checked the fuses and relay's...all good.Un hooked it,hooked back up the way it was and they worked.Tried it again thinking somehow I screwed up and the same thing happened.I read what trucks it won't and will work on and it should work on mine.I did do the ridin durty mod where I spliced the wire out of the headlight switch to a toggle switch the other day.I messed with that trying to get it to work aswell, but nothing.Does the brite box mod not work in conjunction with the ridin durty????

I also just realized that when I turn my lights on,my lows and fogs are on but when I switch to brights my lights go out completely except for the fogs.Did I blow a fuse or a relay?Any ideas which ones to check?

where you can run your parking lights and fogs at the same time if your truck is one of the models that won't do it from the factory.I didn't name it,one of the other forum members did.I thought it was funny aswell!! But he did it and can name it whatever he wants in my opinion!!!

no sir.It does not.I just made a new thread with this question.Sorry,I got no respones on this orginal thread so I made a new one so it would catch peoples eyes! Thanks for responding. After I realized the mod didn't work, I did re-connect the wire that I spliced back together like it was and double checked it to make sure it was good and it was.Is there a seperate relay or fuse for the highbeams?

Yeah, there is a separate fuse for the high beams. Even if you don't have the DRL feature, check and make sure that there is not a fuse in it's location, if there is take it out. If there is and you flip your lights to bright, it will blow 2 fuses. One being the high beam and I think the other is fog.

do you know which ones to check.I don't have a manual.I know which is the fogs(#43) but thats all I found online. My fogs are good they work all the time(except for when the brights are on like normal since the bb mod didn't work)All I need to figure out is which fuse is for the brights and I'm sure that will fix it.In fact,I think I heard it blow when I was messing around with the mod........

The fog light mod works(ridin durty mod). The brite box didn't.I took the green wire with black tracer in spot 13 and cut it in 2.capped off the end out of the dash and hooked a ground wire on the end out of the fuse box.Exactly like the write up said and my fogs went out completley. They didn't work again until I unhooked what I had did and reconnected the green and black wire back to it self.I'm pretty sure after I put it all back together and was checking to see if my fogs worked is when I heard the fuse blow.I'm gonna check the fuse in the am.I would like to figure out why the bb mod didn't work though and get that done tomorrow.Got any ideas about the bb?

thats what the bb mod is.How did you do yours.the other mod I did(ridin durty)allows you to have the fogs and just the parking lights on.My truck wouldn't do that before the mod, some will. The mod I had trouble with was getting the fogs to stay on with the brights. The mod is easy and I did it right, but for some reason the fogs dont come on at all with this mod hooked up.I guess you can't have the ridin durty and bb mod at the same time????

Mine is an '03 and it has the pull out feature that turns on the fogs with only parking lights on, so it should work for your truck too, if you can find one from a Junk yard or ebay. I cut the wire under the dash and capped one end and grounded the harness end and that keeps the fog lights on for me when I switch to high beams. i also used a relay to keep the low beams burning when I switch to high beams. So i can run parking lights, parking+fogs, Lows, Lows+fogs, highs+lows, or high+low+fogs.

In retrospect, i relay is not required to keep low beams on when switching to highs. Instead, a diode between the two power wires would suffice.

03-07 LIGHT SWITCH

i to am also wondering if all I have to do is run to ford and get another switch , and will this allow the fogs to work with the running lights.

somewhere on this forum, someone posted that he disassembled the switch and found there is a plastic tab that prevents the fog pull-out to work in the parking light position on some truck models. He said he just had to dremel off the tab and he was able to pull it out to turn on the fogs while in the parking light posisiton afterward. I don't think there was a write-up though.

I wonder if removing that tab would enable you to turn on the fogs while in the off position as well though, leaving them on accidently.

Edit: NM, i forgot the fogs are tied to ignition power, not battery

here's the link that shows how to mod the switch so it will pull out while in the Parking lights position: How to modify the Headlight Switch to allow Fog Lamps to come on with Parking lights and Autolamps

It being done on an F150, but it should be basically the same.

Before you try that, read this thread below 1st. It's kinda long and kinda old, but I just read the whole thing and it documents the various problems that others have run into while attempting this mod on '02 and older trucks, and also offers a couple different solutions for it.

Hope this helps!
